PECHS Karachi Food Scene: The Complete Dining Guide
8 min read
·12 March 2026·Top10KarachiPECHS sits in the geographic heart of Karachi between Shahrah-e-Faisal and Tariq Road. Not the city's most glamorous food neighbourhood, but a dense, genuinely diverse food scene built over decades where the best spots are known by locals and ignored by the Instagram crowd.
The PECHS Classics
- Cafe Aylanto, Block 6 — Mediterranean menu, proper espresso. Pasta, grilled chicken, mezze platters are restaurant-quality. Dinner for two PKR 3,500–5,000. Book for Friday dinners.
- Salt'n Pepper Village — A Karachi institution. Karahi, biryani, seekh kabab with 20+ years of consistency. PKR 1,200–1,800 per person. Outdoor section excellent in winter.
- Nando's PECHS — One of the better-run branches. Quarter chicken with rice and drink: PKR 900–1,100.
Hidden Gems on the Side Streets
- Savour Foods, Block 2 — Karachi branch of the Islamabad legend. Daal makhni PKR 450, karahi per kg PKR 1,800–2,200.
- Aroos-e-Kabul — Afghan cuisine largely unknown outside the neighbourhood. Mantu, qabuli pulao, grilled lamb chops. PKR 600–1,000 per person. The pulao is the standout.
- Student Biryani PECHS Commercial — One of the chain's best branches. Chicken biryani PKR 380–430.
Tariq Road Eating
Gola ganda stalls from March are a neighbourhood institution. Rolls and shawarma from the main crossing: PKR 200–350. Multiple haleem spots from 7 PM onward. PECHS does not yet have Japanese or Korean food — and does not need it. Its strength is depth in what it already does well.
